چکیده

Epidemiology and incidence Acute myeloid (AML) and acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) are rare diseases, accounting for approximately 1.3% and 0.4% of all new cancer cases in the US. While the overall incidence of leukemia has been stable since 1975 (13 new cases/ 100,000 in 1975 and 14 new cases/ 100,000 in 2012) [1], the rates for new AML and ALL cases have been rising on average by 2.2% and 0.6%, respectively over the last decade [2,3].

Overexpression of MiR-138 Inhibits Cell Growth and Induces Caspase-mediated Apoptosis in Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia Cell Line

Dysregulated expression of miRNAs can play a vital role in pathogenesis of leukemia. The shortened telomere length, and elevated telomerase activity in acute promyelocytic leukemia cells are mainly indicative of extensive proliferative activity. This study aimed to investigate the effect of overexpression of miR-138 on telomerase activity, and cell proliferation of acute promyelocytic leukemia ...

MicroRNAs as a New Molecular Biomarker for Diagnosis and Prognosis of T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL): A Systematic Review

MicroRNAs (miRNAs, miRs) are small endogenous non-coding RNAs that regulate the expression of protein-encoding genes at the post-transcriptional level. Several studies have described the role of miRNAs in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), including tumor suppressor and oncogenic miRNAs. Down-regulation of miRNA expression is a prominent feature of human malignancy. This down-regulati...
